Happy Saturday friends! I’m doing another book tag, just for fun. I’d love to hear your answers too!
Here goes…
1. How many books are too many books in a series?
I don’t have a rule – probably because my all-time favorite series has something like 25+ books. Yes, Harry Bosch and Michael Connelly make yet another list. I also love CJ Box, and I still haven’t read his entire Joe Pickett series! I’d love to read Louise Penny too, she’s up to 16 in the Inspector Gamache series. And don’t even get me started on Karin Slaughter’s Will Trent series!
2. How do you feel about cliffhangers?
Cliffhangers in a chapter or a book? I enjoy them both but hate waiting too long between books. I end up forgetting important details!
3. Hardback or paperback?
Either one, really. If I was pressed, I would say hardback since paperbacks can tend to get bent and worn faster. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing – I adore seeing a well-loved book. (Elizabeth Gilbert had a great post about how different people handle their books. Click the picture and read her caption.
4. Favorite type of book?
Well written, evocative descriptions and characters that end up having learned something, grown up or have found some kind of redeeming quality.
5. Least favorite type of book?
Characters with no unique voice, immature writing, and plots that don’t make sense.
6. Love triangles, yes or no?
Sure, let’s just be realistic, make sensible choices and try to let me down easily!
7. The most recent book you just couldn’t finish?
Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney
8. A book you’re currently reading?
Every Thing You Are by Kerry Anne King
9. Last book you recommended to someone?
The Scent Keeper by Erica Bauermeister
10. Oldest book you’ve read?
The Good Master and The Singing Tree by Kate Seredy, originally published in 1930s
11. Newest book you’ve read?
An ARC of Big Lies in a Small Town by Diane Chamberlain (on sale 2020)
12. Favorite author(s)?
Michael Connelly, Lucinda Riley, Paulina Simmons, Pat Conroy, Diane Chamberlain, Caroline Kepnes… There’s so many!
13. Buying or borrowing books?
I like to BUY books. I love building up my library! And I am a big re-reader so I need to have a copy if the mood strikes.
14. A book you dislike but everyone else seemed to love?
The Friends We Keep – Jane Green
15. Bookmarks or dog-ears?
Bookmarks obviously. I’m not a monster.
16. A book you can always re-read?
Ready, Player One by Ernest Cline
17. Can you read while hearing music?
I could, but I wouldn’t consciously choose music to read to.
18. One POV or multiple?
Multiple POV is great because I love being immersed and getting to know all the characters!
19. One sitting or over multiple days?
One sitting if possible – unless it’s a thriller or suspense… Reading it all at once will give me a tension headache! It’s the mental equivalent of teeth clenching!
20. AudioBooks – yes or no?
I wish I could. I really love the idea of multitasking and getting chores done while I zone out listening to a good story. I haven’t had the best luck with narrators, and the voice and the speed just distract and annoy me! (I wrote a whole post HERE about celebrity audiobook narrators that might convert me, but I have yet to test my theory!)
