How was your weekend? Get any reading done?! Holiday baking? Get a Christmas tree? Check. Check. Check. There’s nothing better than the smell of fresh pine and the twinkle and reflection of the lights!
Last Week:
We’re continuing #ALiteraryChristmas with The Journey of Joseph Winter by John Anthony and Married by Midnight by Talli Roland. (We’re planning on posting our holiday reviews soon!)
On Thursday we had Christmas Tea with author Anita Hughes at the Los Rios Tea House in San Juan Capistrano. What a lovely event by Adventures By The Book! Anita was delightful and thoughtful and gave us great insight into her research and writing process.
Blog Notes:
We reached our 500th post on Instagram and chose the winner of our giveaway! Our winner will be receiving a pile of books and some special book goodies.
We also partnered with author Leah DeCesare for a fun holiday giveaway (a signed copy of Forks, Knives and Spoons, silver charm necklace and other book goodies). We used PromoSimple to help run the contest and we will be choosing the winner this morning!
@OC_Readers on Twitter: it’s an untapped resource with oodles of legit authors/readers/bloggers but I don’t really have a handle on it yet. I’ve begun using Hootsuite to plan and schedule tweets. Any advice for a newbie?
Pinterest – switched over to a business account and have been building up my boards and pinning my posts. Do you edit your blog images to include alt-text?
Currently Reading:
Pat Conroy was one of the first authors that really instilled a great love of reading in my introverted heart. I’m excited to read this tribute to a very special man.
New York Times best-selling writer Pat Conroy (1945–2016) inspired a worldwide legion of devoted fans numbering in the millions, but none are more loyal to him and more committed to sustaining his literary legacy than the many writers he nurtured over the course of his fifty-year writing life. In sharing their stories of Conroy, his fellow writers honor his memory and advance our shared understanding of his lasting impact on twentieth- and twenty-first-century literary life in and well beyond the American South.
The Week Ahead:
Relaxing. Baking. Driving around to see the extensive Christmas light displays. Planning for 2019. Working on this…
QOTD: What are you reading this week? How do you celebrate the holidays???
#IMWAYR is a weekly meme hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. It’s a great way to recap your weekend and plan your reading goals for the week ahead.

Yes the smell of fresh pine is lovely at Christmas. Unfortunately all in our family seem to have gone the easy way of “not real”. Lights are lovely though. How wonderful that meet up with Anita Hughes sounds.
