⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was not my usual genre, but it was sure exciting and suspenseful! I don’t like scary, ghostly, haunted storylines because they make me jumpy. I had to put this book down a few times because I was getting creeped out!

Rebecca and her husband Stefan and his daughter Chrissy are going back to Rebecca’s hometown of Redemption to deal with the house that was left to her. Unfortunately 15 years ago something terrible happened in the house and going back is the last thing she wants to do. Especially since her husband has to leave her there while he goes back to NYC to work and then doesn’t even check in with her.

There was so much tension and weirdness going on and Rebecca/Becca just seemed to want to avoid getting any answers. She can’t remember anything that happened 15 years ago. Her stepdaughter was being so mean to her and her husband was acting so suspiciously. I was annoyed how much she just put up with. The justifications she came up with were pretty weak. The one person who really wanted to help was Daniel the cop and she kept avoiding him.

There were a lot of characters/storylines to keep track of which may have played a part in my enjoyment of the story. First there’s Mia and Daphne, Becca’s friends who were there the night Jessica disappeared. Then we have CB, Becca’s cousin who calls his mom by her first name. We also have Celia and Barry and Rick and Aunt Charlie’s customers (who want Becca to make the special tea her Aunt was famous for). And just to keep things interesting there is an old legend from the 1900s about Mad Martha and Nelly.

I had to see what happened, so the author did a great job of keeping me in suspense. However there were A LOT of unanswered questions.

If you like creepy and spooky things happening with lots of twists and turns you will enjoy this book!

Book 2 in the Redemption series THIS HAPPENED TO JESSICA comes out November 27, 2018.
