Good Morning! It’s Monday and I’m thankful we’re all home from work and school until 11/26! We are looking forward to Thanksgiving with family on Wednesday and Thursday.
It was a slow reading week – which is just fine. What matters most is being present and enjoying my family time.
And on that note, before I get to the books, here is a story that is sure to warm your heart. Continued prayers 🙏 for all the people and firefighters in the worst burn areas in California.
“I knew my house was gone, I knew my neighbor’s house was gone, I knew my mom’s house was gone…but, I did not know that my Little Free Library had made it.” Get the story: http://bit.ly/2zgTyx5
My favorite book last week was an ARC of MORE THAN WORDS by Jill Santopolo which comes out February 2019. Thank you NetGalley. Her last book The Light We Lost (May 2017) has been on my TBR for ages and after reading this one I need to move it up the pile.
Mini Review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Nina is the perfect daughter. She’s smart, beautiful and understands the responsibility of her family’s legacy. Her fiancé is her best friend and they’ve grown up together.
She feels pressure after her father dies to do everything he expected – marry the guy, run the company and continue his legacy.
This story is about love and loss. Learning that people don’t always deserve to be put on a pedestal. That it’s okay to be brave and honest. That sometimes you should make changes in your life if they are needed.
This was a very good read and I felt connected to the characters and their struggles.
I read the first two books in the Secrets of Redemption series by Michele Pariza Wacek for an upcoming post. Not my usual genre- spooky and chilling suspense with some ghostly haunting thrown in! Read during daylight hours only. Here is the link to my review for Book 1. It Began With A Lie
So many books, so little time! There are several books I really really really want to get to before the end of the year. Plus a few holiday books!
I’m definitely going to read THE CHRISTMAS SISTERS by Sarah Morgan. I love a heartwarming Adoption story.
In the snowy Highlands of Scotland, Suzanne McBride is dreaming of the perfect cozy Christmas. Her three adopted daughters are coming home for the holidays and she can’t wait to see them. But tensions are running high…the McBride sisters all have different reasons for finding the holiday season challenging.
Also local author Anita Hughes released a new Christmas book in October: CHRISTMAS AT THE CHALET which has romance, gorgeous couture and the stunning scenery of the Swiss Alps. How could you go wrong?
Excited to meet Anita on December 13th at the Los Rios Teahouse in San Juan Capistrano! Tickets still available here.
Thanks for stopping by! What are you reading/eating this week?
I collect recipes – do you have a thanksgiving classic to share?
#IMWAYR is a weekly meme hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. It’s a great way to recap your weekend and plan your reading goals for the week ahead.
Nice assortment of books. All are new to me. My brother does most of the cooking. We aren’t trying anything new for Thanksgiving but relying on old favorites. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

I am also planning to read The Christmas Sisters. I am totally getting into the holiday spirit with my reading this year. I haven’t seen the Anita Hughes books before and will have to add them to my list
