I’ve been so fortunate to have attended many wonderful author events in the last four years. Literary Orange, Adventures By The Book, bookstore websites (like Vroman’s or Warwick’s), public library websites and each author’s websites are all great resources if you’re interested in meeting them IRL. You might be surprised to know how accessible and warm and down to earth, most authors are!

Here are 10 authors I have met (name dropping here!) and 10 authors I’d like to meet someday.
- Michael Connelly
- Colleen Hoover
- Susan Meissner
- Caroline Kepnes
- Lisa Scottoline
- Steven Rowley
- Elyssa Friedland
- Fannie Flagg
- Chris Bohjalian
- Julia Fierro
And 10 I would LOVE to meet!
- Lucinda Riley “Every human being has a fascinating existence, with a big cast of good and evil characters in each. And almost always, somewhere along the way, magic.” Lucinda Riley
- Paullina Simons “Ask yourself these three questions, Tatiana Metanova, and you will know who you are. Ask: What do believe in? What do you hope for? What do you love?” The Bronze Horseman
- CJ Box. “Wyomingites, Joe had observed, didn’t know what to do when it rained except get out of it, watch it through the window, and wait for it to go away”. Open Season
- JT Ellison. “He loved how she could go from sleepy mouse to Valkyrie warrior at a moment’s notice.” So Close the Hand of Death
- Sue Monk Kidd. “Someone who thinks death is the scariest thing doesn’t know a thing about life.” The Secret Life of Bees
- Catherine Ryan Hyde. “Because it proves that you don’t need much to change the entire world for the better. You can start with the most ordinary ingredients. You can start with the world you’ve got.” Pay it Forward
- Cathy Lamb. “She was in that place in your soul where friends go who die but you still love them and talk to them and think of them.” No Place I’d Rather Be
- Karin Slaughter. “Having a teenager is like having a really, really shitty roommate. They eat all your food and steal your clothes and take money out of your purse and borrow your car without asking.” Pretty Girls
- Ann Garvin. I think people should get married at the courthouse without a single person present and no fanfare whatsoever. Then, if the couple makes it to ten years, they should have a big party. The whole shebang, white dress, flowers, cake of their dreams. After ten years they’d deserve it.” The Dog Year
- Jenny Lawson. “You should just accept who you are, flaws and all, because if you try to be someone you aren’t, then eventually some turkey is going to shit all over your well-crafted facade, so you might as well save yourself the effort and enjoy your zombie books.” Let’s Pretend This Never Happened
What about you? Have you been to a book signing or author event? Who would you like to meet in person?
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Hmmm, other than Jenny Lawson, I don’t think I’ve read any of the other authors on your list. New authors! Yay!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
