We have a Federal holiday today – Labor Day! It honors the American labor movement and is considered to be the “unofficial end of summer”. It won’t really cool down until October around here though.
September is my most favorite month of the year. My birthday is first, then my son’s birthday is the same as our wedding anniversary! Plus football starts and there is something fun to look forward to, every month, until the end of the year!
And all at once, summer collapsed into fall – Oscar Wilde
We are also joining A Novel Family in the #readwhatyouown instagram challenge for September. The idea being not to BUY any books this month. No problem, I’ve got enough unread books to last me until next September!
I finished Tear Me Apart by J. T. Ellison which was INCREDIBLE as I knew it would be. Here is a link to the author’s inspiration behind this story.
This lady is an auto-buy author and on my bucket list of must-meet writers. Plus she’s adorable on social media and she loves cats! Click here for my full review.
This week I’m hoping to read one or two of these beauties.
The Dinner List, Rebecca Serle – 911/18
Pieces of Her, Karin Slaughter – 8/21/18
The Glass Ocean, Team W – 9/4/18
In Her Bones, Kate Moretti – 9/4/18
QOTD: Which one would YOU pick? Tell me in the comments what you’re reading and if you’re also on a book buying ban. How long will you hold out? Are you “master of your domain”?
#IMWAYR is a weekly meme hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. It’s a great way to recap your weekend and plan your reading goals for the week ahead.
I am reading the fantastic “Americanah” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I’m also on a book-buying ban but a month it probably as long as I will be able to hold out!

That’s a serious book. How are you liking it?

I like it. I’ve read a lot of her work before. This is similar to the themes in “The Thing Around Your Neck”.

Your selection looks great. I majorly splurged on books for my birthday, so I certainly need to be on a book buying ban.
Happy Reading!

It’s funny how we can justify and rationalize our purchases! 😂

I won’t buy many more books this month, I did a lot in August, but I did change one order up from a paperback which I didn’t realise comes out in 2019 and exchanged for a hardback. But now… I want to be restrained! However I am going over to watch that instagram challenge as it sounds fun to see what everyone is reading.

Aww kitty!
I really want to read Glass Ocean – I love Karen White. I have been on a book buying ban for a year and a half! I only read books from the library or review books. It was hard at first but now it is so easy. Sometimes I do have a moment where I have nothing to read – then I usually hit up NetGalley, so sort of like shopping. Lol.

I read The Summer Wives by Beatriz Williams earlier this summer and am not sure if I’m ready for another of her books yet. I’m waiting to hear what others think of The Glass Ocean before I commit.
BTW – I lived in Orange County for four years a long time ago. The guy I was with at the time was in medical school at Uc Irvine. I absolutely loved it there!
