Today’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is “Rainy Day Reads”. We have had a lot of rain for California the last few months, and the flowers have been beautiful.
When it’s rainy and I’m lucky enough to have some reading time, I usually reach for something really immersive and epic that transports me.
Some of the books/series that I can get lost in are:
1. Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean M. Auel
2. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
3. Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
4. Lord of the Rings by J. R. Tolkien
5. The Seven Sisters series by Lucinda Riley
Although if it’s dark and stormy outside I might want a warm weather, summertime “beach” read…
so in that case I’d reach for:
6. π Summer of ’69 / Winter in Paradise by Elin Hildebrand
7. The Good Widow / Girls Night Out by Liz and Lisa
8. The Seasonaires / π Malibu Bluff by Janna King
9. Summer List / π Summer Hours by Amy Doan
Lastly, another thing I love to do when it’s rainy is cook or bake something!
In that case:
10. The Coincidence of Coconut Cake / The Simplicity of Cider by Amy Reichert
Her books will have me salivating and reaching for the butter and sugar in no time!
QOTD: What’s your “go to” genre for a rainy day?
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Immersive and epic sounds like a great choice for a rainy day read! I’ve been wanting to give Ken Follett a try, since I’ve heard such good things about him.
Here’s my TTT post.

Light, fun novels are great for a rainy day, but also heavy historical fiction. Really like your food-related selection, Coincidence of Coconut Cake sounds awesome.

This list is fun, especially to include summer and food. I too want to curl up with Lord of the Rings for a rainy day of reading. Excellent choices! π
