“Outrageous Things Iβve Done for the Love of Books” is this week’s topic for Top Ten Tuesday.I guess outrageous is relative right? Some of these might be funny or painful!
πI waited outside a bookstore for five hours to be first in line for a Colleen Hoover event.
πI drove almost 300 miles in one day because Kevin Kwan and Sally Field had events in San Diego and Pasadena.
πI carried 20+ books onto a rock jetty, at the beach, on a windy day to take pictures for bookstagram.
πI’ve also bought fancy donuts just to stage a photo.
πI joined a Silent Book Club because I haven’t found the right group of people for a traditional book club.
πI went to a book signing for an author I didn’t know (Dani Shapiro) because I wanted to hear the moderator (Jamie Lee Curtis).
πI’ve dragged my family to many many Little Free Libraries on our travels.
πI once had 11 copies of the same book (The Time Travelers Wife) because I kept buying copies at thrift stores.
π I’ve gotten up at 3am to read because I woke up thinking about my current book.
πAnd most outrageous of all? I decided to start a book blog and write about local authors and book events!
QOTD: What about you? What’s the craziest thing you’ve done for books?
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Your story about the rock jetty is a great one. I’d never think to do that!

I drove 2.5 hours to meet Jane Porter and took a stack of books for her to autograph, I took a stack of books when I drove 1.5 hours to meet Karen White, I took a book to Inner Harbor and created a photo op for a giveaway, I drove 4 hours to Long Island for a writers’ conference, and I became a published author (I use a pseudonym) after winning a writing contest!

Great list. I would’ve gone to a random author signing to hear Jamie Lee Curtis too.
