Last Week:
Check out 7️⃣ posts from last week…
Book reviews posted for 3️⃣ books: Maid by Stephanie Land | The Wartime Sisters by Lynda Loigman | The Suspect by Fiona Barton
I read 3️⃣ books last week – all three were very good! Full reviews will be posted soon.
The Girls at 17 Swann Street – an intense and emotional read with lots of hope and small victories for Anna who is being treated for anorexia.
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine – all the stars for this relatable and flawed woman who has seen so much abuse and fear. Who hasn’t been lonely and wanted to drink vodka all weekend?
Daughter of Molokai – epic and generational, the continuing beautiful story of Rachel’s daughter Ruth, given up for adoption because she was the child of lepers. Raised by a gentle and loving Japanese family, Ruth is given a happy life.
My nonfiction book last week was a DNF and I’m so disappointed. I don’t know what I’m missing?! So many people have just raved about The Library Book by Susan Orlean and I didn’t make the same connection.
Blog Notes:
🎉The monthly views on Pinterest continue to blow my mind. I’m pinning like a mad woman with the goal of sending traffic back to the blog.
🎉Over on Instagram, I spent $10 on a promoted post and got over 700 likes on one picture! (These are the books I meant to read last year – see this Top Ten Tuesday post)
🎉One of my goals this year was to learn to take better book pictures. So I’m excited to try out my new tabletop photography studio lighting tent from Amazon. It’s all about the lighting…
🎉Custom bookmarks are coming – I’m a big fan of Vistaprint and they’re having a sale! I can’t wait to share them with you all. I feel a giveaway coming…
🎉Browse and buy books from Southern California Authors – come see the page I’ve created on Amazon just for our local favorites!
Currently Reading:
Sadie by Courtney Summers – I’m a little over 100 pages in and I’m invested. The plot and writing style is unique – partly a podcast script that builds the tension with each “episode”.

Reading Ladies has a timely post in tribute of Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Fictionally Sam discusses plot vs. character in this Sunday Tea post.
HEA Novel Thoughts tells us 5 Things Authors Want You To Know at Book Signings.

Our Southern California Events page has been updated.
🆕We’re SO EXCITED to hear Dani Shapiro discuss her new book, Inheritance with… JAMIE LEE CURTIS in February! Check out Diesel Bookstore in Brentwood.
QOTD: So, what are YOU reading this week? What’s the weather like?
Have a great week!

I’m on a waitlist for Eleanor Oliphant, so I’m glad it’s good. It sounds unique. I’m still confused by Pinterest. I get around 300K monthly viewers, but not many of them come to my blog. Have a great week!

I loved Eleanor Oliphant, I’ve seen quite a few readers not like it, but… I loved the audio version. I might try The Kiss Quotient because even though it might be a bit sizzling hot for my taste one reader likened it to the movie Pretty Woman which I was kinda a fan of!

I’ll have to read some of the negative reviews. I guess maybe the book made them uncomfortable? I also have the Kiss Quotient to read… I think that character has less of a bad history driving her eccentricity… I’m curious to see how sizzling it is 🔥 😂
