It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? #weeklyrecap

Happy Monday friends!

Did anyone watch the Golden’s Globes last night? Do you have a favorite celebrity couple? Emily Blunt and John Krazinski and Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are #couplegoals

Last Week:

Check out 8️⃣ posts from last week… including:

Book reviews for Watching You and Educated, my Top Ten Favorite Books of 2018 and a fun discussion about having too many books.

What I Read:

My Favorite Book last week was: Things You Save in a Fire by Katherine Center. It doesn’t release until August 2019 but it’s definitely one you’ll hear me talk about again.

Educated by Tara Westover. I saw this nonfiction title on a lot of year end lists and was glad to finally get to it. Reminiscent of The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls, here’s my review.

The Suspect by Fiona Barton. This standalone mystery releases January 10 and my full review will be posted this week. Mini-review: I had hoped for a more exciting storyline and was underwhelmed and disappointed.

The first book of 2019 The 7.5 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton was sadly a DNF 🛑. It sounded like such an imaginative story and I had high hopes but after 100 pages it had lost momentum, I couldn’t keep the characters straight and found the concept confusing.

The Week Ahead:

Today tickets go on sale for Literary Orange – a day long author event in beautiful Newport Beach on April 6th. This Orange County event sells out every year and this years lineup is incredible! Martha Hall Kelley, Tara Conklin, Gregg Hurwitz, Kate Quinn, Jessica Knoll, T. Greenwood, Roxanne Veletzos, Julie Clark, Amy Meyerson, Swan Huntley, Allie Rowbottom, Viola Shipman/Wade Rouse, Ann Mah, Elizabeth Klehoth, Vanessa Hua and more!

Amazon First Reads:

The two books I chose (for FREE) are a riveting contemporary title from debut author Katrin Schumann and a heartwarming nonfiction title about an open adoption.
