QOTD: What’s the best bookish gift you’ve received?
Lovely post! I have Beartwon on my TBR and I’ve heard so many wonderful things about it, I really look forward to reading it.

It’s classic Backman for sure and it’s a slow burn but oh so worth it!

I finally saw Ocean’s Eight over the weekend. It was so much fun!

I didn’t love Beartown (which saddened me as I love Backman’s other books) but I LOVED Us Against You, Beartown’s sequel. And we hardly ever see movies but actually got to see Crazy Rich Asians and I loved it. I think I might have like it better than the book — gasp.
The best bookish gift I received this year was a pair of bookworm socks from my best friend for my birthday. They are hilarious and awesome!

That’s interesting you liked the sequel better. It was such a slow start I would have put it down if it had been any other author! I think CRA the movie was SO well done – hard to say which was better, the book or movie … I loved both!

Crazy Rich Asians was a good movie.
Thanks for sharing your favorites.

Love, love this post! I’m about some oil diffusing this year, and I really need to get myself a letter board. And I still haven’t seen Crazy Rich Asians! I don’t even know how that’s a thing.

Crazy Rich Asians. Yep. Right there with you. My wife said she tried the book but didn’t like it, but loved the movie. I didn’t try the book, but might still. We’ll see. I know, though, that I loved the movie!

I hope you do enjoy the book if you get around to it! The movie was perfectly cast IMO!

OMG I LOVED THE DREAM DAUGHTER
My mom read it first and raved about it so much that I had to read it. It would be a great book club pick, because we both had so much to talk about. Mainly what we thought the characters SHOULDN’T have done. One thing though… who forgets about 9/11????

I agree! It’s a testament to how excellent a writer she is. She went a very different direction on this one. Have you read Necessary Lies? I am always recommending it. (Look it up, I’ll wait). Hard to believe forced sterilization was a thing in our country right?! Do you belong to a book club?

This was actually my first Diane Chamberlain! I didn’t know forced sterilization was a thing AT ALL! I am in a really active GR group with monthly challenges and everything. They’re like my internet family

Have you read The Silent Sister? Another great one. I think she’s written like 26 books so I have a big backlist to catch up on.

I meant that I hadn’t read any Diane Chamberlain besides The Dream Daughter
