First Line Fridays | What Doesn’t Kill Her

Happy Friday Book Peoples!

Today’s #FLF is from my current read: WHAT DOESN’T KILL HER by Christina Dodd. (Publishes January 29, 2019) It’s the second book in the series and it’s considered Romantic Suspense. Ms. Dodd is a new to me author with a backlist of almost 60 BOOKS!

First Lines:

“Sleeping Beauty was such a sucker. You can say stuff in her defense. She was young and unwary. She didn’t know much about wicked men and cruel women. No one warned her not to touch sharp objects. But ultimately, everything that happened – the kingdom taking a hundred year nap, her prince having to hack back thorns and fight a dragon, him having to run up a gazillion stairs, wheezing and gasping, to revive her with true love’s kiss – that was all her fault. Everything melts down around her and all she does is lie there, snoozing away.

About the Author:

Readers become writers, and Christina Dodd has always been a reader. She reads everything, but because she loves humor, she likes romance best.

A woman wants things like world peace, a clean house, and a deep and meaningful relationship based on mutual understanding and love. A man wants things like a Craftsman router with attachments, undisputed control of the TV remote, and a red Corvette which will miraculously make his bald spot disappear. So when Christina’s first daughter was born, she told her husband she was going to quit work and write a book. It was a good time to start a new career, because how much trouble could one little infant be?

  1. Happy Friday!👏

My first lines come from The Patient One by Shelley Shepard Gray…….

“Thank you for coming. I’m so glad you could make it,” Mrs. Warner said as she clasped Katie Steury’s hand between her own. “Andy . . . well, Andy would have been pleased to see you here.”

Have a very relaxing weekend and happy reading!😊

  2. Sounds interesting!

I’m featuring the first line from Carolyn Miller’s latest release, The Making of Mrs Hale, over on my blog today, but at the moment I’m reading Jerusalem’s Queen by Angela Hunt:

“They are all here, gathered like vultures around my bed, watching with long faces and occasionally bending near to listen for my breathing.”

    Have a great weekend!

  3. Happy Weekend! My first line is from “Looking Glass Lies” by Varina Denman:

“I woke up in the middle of the night in our cavernous walk-in closet. Again.”
