Happy Monday Friends! Was your weekend busy or full?
I read something this weekend that talked about how we’re all so busy, as if being busy was a bad thing. To me, being busy means you are being productive, getting things done, etc. So they suggested saying you’re FULL instead of busy as that has more positive connotations! I like it!
I finished The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society buddy read with my friend Shannon and it was very good – heartwarming and hopeful despite the post World War II time period. (Full review coming soon). I’m hoping to watch the Netflix movie this week. Would love to hear from someone who has read and watched it!
Finished Beartown by Fredrik Backman and have SUCH a book hangover. All the stars! (Full review here). Have you read it? Or the sequel Us Against You? I will definitely be picking it up. I have to find out what happens to the Beartown team!
Lastly, I started Almost Missed You by Jessica Strawser and am reading this one with my buddy Shannon too 😍! (Aren’t Book Friends the best?!). This is the debut novel for this author and it’s been on my TBR for ages. In fact she’s working on her third book Forget You Know Me which comes out February 5, 2019!
This book is a domestic suspense, contemporary read. I’m 100% invested! What’s wrong with Finn? What will Violet do to get her son back? And what did Caitlin do that was so terrible?! I’m looking forward to finishing it up this week!
Did you watch YOU last Sunday?! What did you think? So far I think it’s pretty true to the book and the casting is pretty spot on. I always pictured Joe being a bit more beefy but I’m keeping an open mind! I’ve got the second episode recorded and will be watching this week.
I also watched this movie last week with my book bestie. I hadn’t read the book and only knew it was about….books obviously 🙄. It’s a small, independent film with a fantastic cast and incredible setting. However I do wish I had read the book beforehand since there were a few plot points that were disappointing since I wasn’t expecting them. Have you read the book or seen the film? Do tell!
After last weeks books I think I need a palate cleanser! I’m excited to start Gross Anatomy by Mara Altman. I know it’s going to be good just based on the marketing slogan “There is Greatness In Our Grossness”! 😂
I don’t know much about Joyful: The Surprising Power of Ordinary Things to Create Extraordinary Happiness by Ingrid Fetell Lee, but I love the title and the cover. The summary is:
Designer and TED star Ingrid Fetell Lee explains how to cultivate a happier, healthier life by making small changes to your surroundings.
Have you ever wondered why we stop to watch the orange glow that arrives before sunset, or why we flock to see cherry blossoms bloom in spring? Is there a reason that people — regardless of gender, age, culture, or ethnicity — are mesmerized by baby animals, and can’t help but smile when they see a burst of confetti or a cluster of colorful balloons.
And lastly, I need to go back to The Dream Daughter by one of my TOP favorite authors, Diane Chamberlain. I’ve loved everything she’s written, 5 stars every one. When I received an arc a few months back, I wasn’t prepared for the science fiction element (why?!?!?!?) and slammed the book shut. I know it will be amazing. I know authors long to try new things. I just need to suck it up and persevere!
So, how was YOUR weekend? What are you reading and do you love it?! Tell me! 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
#IMWAYR is a weekly meme hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date. It’s a great way to recap your weekend and plan your reading goals for the week ahead.
I really want to read Beartown but feel like I’m drowning in review books right now. I hope things will get better later in the year. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

I’m glad you liked Beartown! I’ve read 4 of Backman’s books, but I haven’t gotten to that one yet. Hopefully soon. Have a good week.
