Day 21 Nonfiction November Book Party! #NonfictionBookParty #NonFicNov #theOCBookGirl

Welcome back to my Nonfiction Book Party!

Today is National Adoption Day when thousands of children are adopted from foster care at events in communities nationwide.

National Adoption Day began in 2000 when the Los Angeles Juvenile Court and other agencies collaborated to open the court on the Saturday before Thanksgiving and find volunteer attorneys to finalize a large number of backlogged adoptions. To date, nearly 75,000 children in foster care have found permanent families as part of National Adoption Day!

Today’s featured books are about adoption.

Twenty Things Adopted Kids Wish Their Adoptive Parents Knew by Sherrie Eldridge

The voices of adopted children are poignant, questioning. This extraordinary book, by a woman who was adopted herself, gives voice to children’s unspoken concerns and shows adoptive parents how to free their kids from feelings of fear, abandonment, and shame.
