I loved this book! I read this book cover to cover without putting it down once.
Jessica is a single mom to Max and Gabe, her adopted son. Her doctor husband Evan has moved out but no divorce proceedings have started. It’s a confusing time and then we find out Evan has been killed in a hunting accident.
Jessica is devastated and starts to piece together clues to her husbands life and it leads to a connection with Gabe’s biological mother. Jessica is struggling to parent her boys and figuring out what to believe.
There is always urgency in this author’s writing and when children are involved, it is even more enhanced. The story is partially told through letters Evan had written to the biological mother along with notes on different adoption cases.
The story unfolds from there as dark secrets are uncovered and Jessica retraces her husbands steps.
Nicole Baart is the mother of five children from four different countries, so besides being an amazing human being, she knows something about adoptions. She writes beautiful and detailed stories with courage and motherhood at the heart.
