The book opens with a shocking, life-defining moment for Jason. He was well-liked and funny and one of the bros. On an early morning call, he faced a jumper on the Bay Bridge. One minute he had the guy laughing and the next minute their eyes locked and Jason could see that “something in him was begging me for help, but something else was feasting on his fear.”
Jason’s story and his journey are so honest and vulnerable and I was incredibly inspired by his faith and the story of how he met his wife. His writing is so vivid and descriptive; I felt like I was in the engine screaming past cars and I could feel the rough pavement and smell the fresh gasoline as he describes a four-vehicle accident with victims trapped.
This was one of those nonfiction books that reads like fiction – action-packed and pulse-pounding, but also spiritually honest, and surprisingly romantic.
