My Thoughts:

Dating, whether online or in real life requires bravery, flexibility and being open minded.

The title of this book intrigued me since several of my friends have found themselves single and out in the dating world in their 40s. In all honesty, what my friends tell me makes me so grateful I’m married – speed dating, hookups, cat-fishing, ghosting and pics of body parts that just appear in my messages? Call me old fashioned but that sounds humiliating and unnecessary!

This new title is meant to help the newly single navigate the waters of online dating. The author didn’t date for four years after her marriage ended – she kept busy with her kids and career and she wasn’t ready. She noticed there wasn’t a lot of advice available for the over 40, Christian woman and decided, in the name of research, to sign up for 16 online dating sites and report on her experience.

She covers everything from figuring out what you’re looking for to writing a genuine bio to bouncing back from an unpleasant experience. Throughout the book, there are many reminders to be true to yourself and your spiritual life, and not to lose hope.

“At the beautiful age of sixty-five, writer Anne Lamont got married for the first time after meeting the man of her dreams on a dating site for adults over fifty.”

The author uses Anne as an example of someone who lived her life. She used her gifts. She spoke her truth. When asked what advice Anne would give to singles who are still waiting…

“If you’re paying attention and making your own life as beautiful and rich and fun as it can be, you might just attract someone who’s doing the same thing.”
